1. NEW ATTORNEY: Meredith Gregory has joined the staff of the Sylva office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. Ms. Gregory transferred from the Boone office of Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. where she worked for two and one half years.  Prior to her work in Boone, Ms. Gregory clerked for a Family Court Judge in Jersey City, New Jersey.   Ms. Gregory graduated from Syracuse University  Law School in Syracuse, New York and has a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have added Meredith's contact information to the Jackson County directory.   2.NEW LAW FIRM: Eric Stiles and Steve Krake, both formerly associated with Zeyland McKinney's office in Robbinsville, have opened their own office in Bryson City on March 5, 2010. The law firm of Stiles and Krake is located at 322 Everett Street (P.O. Box 301). Eric and Steve are awaiting the information regarding their fax and phone numbers, but are available via email at ericwstiles@gmail.com and stevekrake@gmail.com. As soon as they are able to get their phone and fax numbers to me, I will update the Swain and Graham County directories. (3/5/10)

3. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDACY: Cherokee County attorney (and Clay County resident), Denise Hallauer-Fox, has announced her candidacy for Clay County Clerk of Superior Court. (2/25/10)

4. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDACY: Haywood County attorney, Roy Wijewickrama, has announced his candidacy for District Court Judge (Davis seat) in the upcoming judicial race. (2/24/10)

5. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDACY: Haywood County attorney, David Sutton, has announced his candidacy for District Court Judge (Bryant seat) in the upcoming judicial race. (2/18/10)

6. NEW LAW OFFICE: Jonathan Song, currently in the Canton law firm of Smathers and Song, will be venturing off on his own beginning Monday, February 22, 2010. On that date, Jonathan will open his own law office located at 160 N. Main Street, Suite 8, Waynesville, NC. His office phone number will be 452-2220 and his fax number will be 452-2234. Jonathan's new email address will be jonathan@songlawfirm.net . Jonathan will focus his practice on bankruptcy, criminal defense, workers' compensation, civil litigation and family law. I have updated the Haywood County directory to reflect these changes. (2/17/10)

7. ANNOUNCEMENT OF CANDIDACY: Jackson County attorney, Kris Earwood, has announced her candidacy for District Court Judge (Bryant seat) in the upcoming judicial race. (2/15/10)

8. NEW CONTACT INFORMATION: Jamie Arnold, formerly a solo practitioner in Haywood County, has joined the Pavey Law Firm, P.A. in Sylva. The firm will continue to operate the office previously occupied by Jamie located at 168 Tate St., Suite B,  Waynesville, NC,  but Jamie's contact information will be through the Pavey Sylva office. Jamie's new email address is jamiearnold@pdlawnc.com.  Macon County attorney, Bill Shilling, has also changed his email address. You can now email Bill at bill.shillinglaw@gmail.com. I have updated the Jackson, Haywood and Macon County directories to reflect this information. (2/11/10)
